One year later and another early start brought us to the Pony Club NFU and Blue Cross area quizzes on the Isle of Wight on Sunday 1st March. This was the 2nd attempt as the original date in February was cancelled due to the weather. We were lucky enough to enter two teams:
Red Devils Yellow Perils
Dan Magee Natalie Ward
Hayley Wilson Tom Leader
Izzy Knight Clare Kavanagh
Rachel Chambers Michaela Wilson
We set off at 7am in a minibus kindly provided by Paul Leader, Toms dad, to catch the 9am ferry from Portsmouth. After a smooth ferry ride we were at our destination and ready to answer all the questions.
We started with the NFU Quiz, which included pony club knowledge, pony care and geography. After the first couple of rounds both teams were looking strong. Both teams did really well! The Red Devils came 7th overall and the Yellow Perils came 4th.
After lunch we had two new teams:
Seniors Juniors
Tom Leader Rachel Chambers
Hayley Wilson Dan Magee
Natalie Ward Michaela Wilson
The Juniors did really well only dropping a few marks and in some sections none at all. Finally after 2 hours we got the scores. The Seniors had come 5th and the Juniors had won, YES WON !! How fantastic, everyone was so excited. There wasn’t any time to celebrate immediately as we had to collect the rosettes and make a run for the mini bus to catch the 5pm ferry back to Portsmouth. Having safely made it on to the ferry we could then celebrate properly.
What an excellent day. Thank you to Lisa for all her hard work training us and driving the mini bus, we think she was even more excited than us! Thanks also to the mums who came with us, Nicky Wilson, Nicky Kavanagh and Sarah Magee and to Paul Leader for supplying the mini bus.
