Show Jumping at the weekend
A very wet, windy and slippery day was
experience by 8 members in the Garth Hunt Show Jumping Competition on
Sunday 6th July at Smiths Lawn in Windsor Great Park.
In the Mini Show Jumping 70cm competition,
14 years and under, Natalie Ward on Poppet was first to go completing a
clear round then going straight on to gain a fast jump off round. Rachel
Chambers on Ollie, Michaela Wilson on Danny and Georgie Harrison on
Alfie were all very unlucky not to go clear. Natalie held on to
her lead and won the class.
In the Novice Show Jumping 75-80cm Dan
Magee on Cracker, Jess James on Pye and Ashley Harrison on Holly all
went clear. Unfortunately Hayley Wilson took a wrong turn whilst
concentrating so hard on keeping her newly acquired ride, Declan,
upright in the slippery conditions. The excellent results were Dan
in 2nd place, Jess in 3rd place and Ashley in 5th place.
Dan, Jess, Hayley and Ashley went on to
compete as a team in the Hickstead Qualifier - 1.05cm, coming an excellent 2nd over all. Jess
achieved two lovely clear rounds to take joint 1st place as an
individual.
An excellent, soggy day was had by all.
Well Done to all of you!

Some of our members were out and
about competing at the weekend. Here are their results
Hurst Horse Show on 28th and 29th
June
Lucas Peries on Clifford was Reserve
Champion in the 8+ under Gymkhana having gained a 1st and two 2nds.
Lucas was also 4th in the Pony Club Pony Class.
Maddison Peries on Ned with Jess the dog
were 5th in the Horse and Hound. All the other competitors were much,
much older than Maddison.
Clare Kavanagh on Polo gained a 6th in the
Working Hunter Pony. Unfortunately Clare and Polo had a pole down in the
2'6/2'9 jumping class.
Holly Short on Storm came 2nd in the Pony
Club Pony Class. Hollys dog, Smudge, won the Terrier racing championship
beating Natalie Wards dog, Dave, by a couple of lengths.
Show Jumping at Rose Cottage Stud on
29th June
Natalie Ward on Poppet gained a clear
round rosette at 2'6 and went on to come 2nd in the 2'6 class. Poppet
was the only pony in this class, all the other horses towered above her.
Natalie and Poppet were clear in the 2'9 and were heading to be the
fastest against the clock in the 2nd phase but unfortunately demolished
the last jump.
Tom Leader on Cham was very unlucky to
have a stop at the first jump in the 2'6 class then went on to complete
a lovely round. Tom and Cham went on to compete in the 2'9 and were
again very unlucky to have a pole down on the last jump of phase 1.
Well done to all our members, their
ponies/horses and their dogs!
